Drinking coffee is a pleasure I have enjoyed since my youth. I really can’t recall going through a day without it. I love drinking it solo or as part of a communal experience, which is what the “Risser Kaffee Verein” is about.
My last name is Risser and my ancestors are from an area in Germany near the Swiss and French border. I chose the name of this blog about coffee based on that. There is a story about how as new immigrants to the northern US, they almost froze one harsh winter and had to hand carry bags of corn 10 miles, including my Great Grandfather who was only 15 at the time. When they finally got it home, they ground it into corn meal using their coffee grinder . Yes, coffee was part of their life in the harshest of times. Throughout history of the world, coffee has been welcomed by people in the both the best and worst of times.
Ultimately, this blog is more about enjoying coffee as an experience and connecting with others who share the same interest.
Posting and commenting on this blog is a way to share a virtual communal coffee experience. Coffee has such a long, rich history and is enjoyed the world over. That makes those of us who enjoy a simple or elaborate coffee experience one of the largest communities in the world.
