These are my two favorite methods for making a strong unfiltered coffee brew from both a taste and caffeine standpoint. This is a great article that clearly and accurately points out the pros and cons of both methods based on my personal experience form brewing coffee with both methods. I might add that the French Press is my favorite choice when I want to enjoy a more oily, acidic brew. I also have an insulated stainless steel carafe style French Press that keeps the coffee warm much longer than just a clear glass one. I do use both styles of French Press depending on my preferences and needs at the moment. I also will confirm that a con of an espresso machine can be that it “only makes one drink at a time” With that, and also from personal experience, offering a a single cup of espresso/cappuccino as a nice gesture to one person in a large gathering can quickly turn into a mob scene around the machine, and change one’s part in the gathering into a standing , non stop espresso/cappuccino producing barista for the duration of the entire gathering. Beware and prepare ahead when and how you plan to offer coffee to a large group of people. Once an espresso/cappuccino appears in that setting, the genie is out of bottle (or espresso machine).
